Biography
Angelika Dusk is a Greek pop singer and songwriter who was born in Chicago and was immersed in British and American music before she could even walk. A true fan of the 80s music universe, she was raised listening to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Bryan Ferry, Chris Rea and dancing to soundtracks like Footloose, Flashdance, Beverly Hills Cop. She recently was the sole opening act for Sir Rod Stewart at Telekom Center Athens (OAKA) and has been the support act for other artists such as Simple Minds, Boy George, Kaleo, Imany and LP in prominent venues and festivals such as Megaro Mousikis, Niarchos Foundation, Technopoli, and Rockwave. Angelika has had substantial radio-play on Greece’s most commercial radio stations (Hit Fm, En Lefko, Red, Galaxy, Easy), has collaborated with artists like Onirama and Kostas Haritodiplomenos and is a graduate of Brown University, USA with a BA in Music and Piano.
This past year Angelika has released four new songs with a totally 80s vibe: Deeper Love, a dreamy and uplifting pop anthem to listen to your car with the windows rolled down, Breaking My Heart, a Madonna-like hit that will make you dance no matter what, Miracle, an ode to life and gratitude, and Cry, a “Top Gun”-like ballad. With double versions (English and Greek), some of her new singles have reached 2 million views on YouTube.
Working on a regular basis with the award winning producer and composer Rupert Christie (U2, Green Day, Coldplay, Lou Reed, Mamma Mia) and songwriter Jonny Lattimer (Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Tom Odell, Rebecca Ferguson), Angelika is in the process of making her truest album yet: a fresh, pop collection of songs that are directly influenced by 80s sounds, created by actual 80s vintage gear and exceptional musicians such as Simon Johnson (guitar), Dave Troke (bass and fretless bass) and Jim Knight (saxophone).
During her live performances Angelika will take you on a journey to her own magical 80s world: she passionately sings some of her favorite 80s songs (Patti Labelle, A-ha, Phil Collins, Don Henley) and blends them with those from her upcoming album, all with an electrifying and touching stage presence. You will travel with her to cloudy beaches during winter, you will get emotional with her song Cry and you will definitely feel the urge to get up and dance. Whatever the circumstance, Angelika will make sure to connect with her audience and create an engaging and interactive experience with her fans.
Besides Deeper Love you can listen to Angelika’s previous albums: Marionette – a pop fairytale about difficult relationships, young love, and failed dreams filled with carousels, cages, dragons, and marionettes. Beautiful Mess – a rockier, angst-filled journey through anger, passionate love stories, desire and death. She has also covered “big” songs such as Alice Cooper’s Poison, Alphaville’s Big in Japan, A-ha’s Take on Me, and Bryan Adams’ Run To You, infusing them with her own personality. Her hit single is Beautiful Love, a cooperation with Greece’s top DJs Playmen, which reached 600K views on YouTube and 287K streams on Spotify.
Other than 80s music, Angelika loves listening to Metallica, B.B. King, Ella Fitzgerald and Bill Evans. She lives in Athens, Greece, where she likes spending time at home with her family and dogs, often travels to otherworldly places such as Patagonia and the Faroe Islands to enjoy winter – her favorite season – and constantly gets new tattoos.
